Hello all! In last week’s post I mentioned that AI and change management would be this week’s topic. I’ve decided to save that topic for later. Instead, this post starts a new series called What does improv have to do with change management?

I recently completed an Improv Level 1 class at the Strike Theater in Minneapolis, MN and started the Level 2 class last night.
I’ve been curious about improv for a while now for a variety of reasons. One of the main reasons is I wanted to test my hunch that learning improv would be both fun and full of life lessons.
My experience to date has far exceeded my expectations! Not only is improv class super fun, I’m also meeting lots of cool, interesting people, and learning a ton of life lessons. One of the exciting unintended consequences is how much of what I’m learning in improv class helps me be a better change management practitioner.

I’m going to spend the next number of posts sharing some of what I’m learning. Next week, I’ll write about one of the main lessons I’ve learned so far from improv class (pardon my language on this one); Give a shit, be emotionally invested, and care about the person(s) you’re working with.
Closing thoughts
I want to hear from you! What’s something you’re learning in your “non-work” activities that informs and influences your work as a change management practitioner? Please post your thoughts and comments below. Let’s help each other become the best change management practitioners and enthusiasts we can be!
Thank you for reading. Until next time, take care and keep up the good work!
